Introduction: Embracing the Challenge

What if we made daily Bible reading, prayer, tithing, observing the Sabbath, and inviting others to join us a priority in our lives? Join us as we delve into the transformative power of holy habits and embark on a journey of spiritual growth and renewal.

Setting the Stage: Understanding Holy Habits

Before we delve into the specifics of holy habits, let's take a moment to understand their significance in our lives. Holy habits are not mere rituals or routines; they are intentional practices designed to cultivate intimacy with God and align our lives with His purpose for us. As Dallas Willard eloquently put it,

"Spiritual disciplines are not a way to earn God’s favor, but a means to cultivate intimacy with Him."

A great practice to put in place is to PRE-DECIDE! Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.” Make a decision ahead of time that:

When I’m faced with ________________, I have the Holy Habit to _________________.

1.Trusting in the Lord

Our journey begins with Proverbs 3:5-6, a timeless reminder to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. In a world filled with uncertainty and doubt, learning to trust in God's wisdom and guidance is paramount. Let's explore how trusting in the Lord can transform our decision-making process and lead us on the path to fulfillment and joy.

The Quality of Our Decisions

The quality of our decisions determines the quality of our lives. Each decision we make today shapes the choices we'll have to make tomorrow. As Charles Stanley aptly stated, "The choices we make today lead us to the choices we’ll have to make tomorrow." It's essential to recognize the profound impact of our decisions on our present and future circumstances.

Overcoming Decision-Making Challenges

Why do we often struggle to make good decisions? Pastor Craig Groschel identifies three common reasons:

  1. Overwhelmed with Choices: In a world inundated with choices, decision fatigue can set in, leading to decreased decision quality.

  2. Fear of Making the Wrong Decision: We hesitate to make decisions out of fear of missing God's will or making the wrong choice.

  3. Letting Emotions Rule: Emotions often cloud our judgment, leading to impulsive decisions with lasting consequences.

2. Living with Intention

Living a life of intentionality involves making decisions in alignment with our values and beliefs. By clarifying our values and setting clear intentions, we can navigate life's complexities with clarity and purpose. If your life is moving in the habit of your decisions, do you like where your decisions are leading you?

Drawing Inspiration from Scripture

Throughout the Bible, we find inspiring examples of individuals who lived with intentionality and embraced holy habits. From Abraham's unwavering trust in God to Daniel's commitment to righteousness, their stories serve as timeless reminders of the transformative power of faith and obedience. When we read the Bible and engage in the wisdom God has set before us, He gives us stories to connect with, wisdom to follow, and warnings of places where we can falter.

Clarifying Your Values

Understanding our core values is essential for making decisions aligned with our beliefs and priorities. By clarifying our values, we can navigate life's challenges with confidence and integrity, knowing that our choices reflect who we are and what we stand for.

“When your values are clear, your decisions will be easier.” - Pastor Kyle
